At 26 years old Jared finds himself wondering just what he wants to do with his life. Having put his college education on hold a couple years earlier, he now finds himself in flux. His relationship with his father is strained because he chose to break the line of Chandler men who had attended one of the prestigious military academies since the Civil War. Estranged from his once close younger sister because of her recently acquired very radical feminist views, and choosing to break up with a girl his mother was sure could give his life direction had made living in his home-town a very uncomfortable situation.

Life, however, does not always take the course we want or expect, particularly when there are those who exist beyond our knowledge or understanding who have a need. A need for some obscure individual with untapped potential. It is at such times that these ‘elect’ find themselves on a journey down an unfamiliar path toward destiny. And so Jared finds himself jolted away from the familiarity of Colorado into a civilization of worlds half-way across the Milky Way crumbling into turmoil. Why? Only the Adarians know and finding them to get answers won’t be easy.
